After 366 LONG days….my confidant, lover, comedian, trash-taker-outer, lawn-mower, dog whisperer, best friend, and HUSBAND is home!
This last year has been one of the most challenging times of my life. I have learned a lot about myself and have realized that I can pretty much do anything I need to. I learned how to mow a lawn, hang pictures and shelves, fix toilets, and so much more. Chris and I became closer then ever and developed an insane appreciation for each other and everything the other does. Our marriage has never been stronger.
Despite all these things I am SO thankful that he is home from Afghanistan. To know he is not being shot at is an amazing feeling. Not only did Chris come home, but EVERY soldier in our company did as well. I am SO proud of the 401st Military Police Company!!
Tuesday night was the most amazing night. I got to the gym at about 8:30PM because we had to change locations at the last minute due to inclement weather. The plane landed at approximately 10:30PM and they had a live video feed to the airport so the families could see the soldiers getting off the plane. It took them about an hour to turn in their weapons etc. but then we saw the MP escorts show up outside the gym along with the infamous white buses. The excitement in the gym was unreal. They rolled up the gate and the company marched in in formation. I spotted Chris right away – it was easy since he was at the front of his platoon. The ceremony lasted about 7 minutes but seemed like FOREVER since he was right there in front of me. When they were told to fall out I was out of my seat and in his arms.
We couldn’t have done it this year without the love and support of all of our family and friends! God has been so good to us and I feel truly blessed to have my family back together again.
