I have been getting some questions about our daily routine and Emmie’s ‘schedule’. I use the term ‘schedule’ loosely … although we aim for a routine there are some days where things don’t go according to plan. And that’s to be expected with a baby. BUT I thought I would share with you our ‘schedule’:
4/5AMish: Em wakes up for a quick morning feeding – we both go back to sleep
7AM: I get up. This gives me enough time to make a quick breakfast and read a couple of blogs. Usually. Sometimes I sleep longer.
7:30AM: Emmie wakes up and eats. She likes to wake up slowly so normally she is happy hanging out in her swing.
9:00AM: Nap. Normally taken while I am working out at the gym. She typically sleeps 45 minutes to 1 hour.
10:00-11:30AM– Emmie eats at 11:00. The rest is play time. We play on our play mat, read books, or do tummy time.
11:30PM/Noon: Emmie goes down for her afternoon nap. This one usually lasts 1.5-2 hours. I eat lunch, do chores, and relax a bit.
2:ooPM– Emmie eats
2:00-4:00PMish– Emmie gets up. It’s play time again. We go on a walk with the dogs, play on our play mat, sing songs, etc.
4:00PMish– Short catnap.
4/5:00PM– Chris gets home. Daddy/baby time commences.
5:00PM– Emmie eats and then plays more with her daddy
6:00PM – Dinner for the grown ups.
**I try not to let Emmie sleep for more than hour past 6:00.
8:00PM– Bath and bed time. After bath we sit in her glider and eat and say her prayers. I put her to bed in our room in the pack-and-play (we are slowly transitioning to her crib).
Hubs and I get some time together downstairs before heading to bed ourselves.
10:30PM– I feed Emmie one last time before I go to bed. This ensures that she (and I) gets a good 5.5-6 hour stretch of uninterrupted sleep at night.
There you have it! That’s our day in a nutshell. We get out of the house everyday which I think is great for my sanity and Emmie’s acclimation to the big world. Tons of snuggles and play time thrown in the mix.
The biggest thing I have learned when ‘scheduling’ my baby is not to panic when things derail. At the end of the day she is a baby and she is going to do what she wants to do … I’m just along for the ride … and I am loving every second of it
