Pure Barre – Phoenix

Yesterday was quite the whirlwind of activity!! Holy cow … I sat down to write this post at 10:30PM! First break all day … but the my take on Pure Barre just couldn’t wait
I started off my morning at the Athenas Day Spa for part of my Valentine’s Day gift from Chris. I broke out REALLY badly when I was pregnant with Emmie and some scarring took place on my cheeks. Although it’s not super noticeable, I am really self-conscious about it. Peels have worked in the past for me so I wanted to try it out again … and Chris got me one! If you haven’t had a facial peel before, just know it’s not your typical relaxing spa experience. It is definitely more of a treatment but the deep cleaning your face gets is the best! I got a pumpkin peel and I am looking forward to seeing the effects over the next couple of days.
After the spa I had to head straight to my hair appointment with Randy. Randy cuts my mom and sister’s hair and used to do mine too before I moved. She is also the one who did my hair for my wedding! It was great seeing her and catching up a bit. I know I can count on Randy to do a great job and she met expectations once again. By this point mom and I were STARVING and still had a few errands to run. We decided to grab a quick lunch at Chevy’s since it was located at the mall we were going to. It was such a beautiful day in Phoenix today (I think the high was around 67) so we decided to soak it in and sit on the patio. Luckily Emmie was in a fabulous mood and regaled us with tons of smiles while we waited for our food.
We stared off with the chips and salsa. There is just something about Chevys salsa that I can’t get enough of. I wish I could bottle it up and take it home with me!
For lunch I got the Original Famous Chicken Fajitas.
Mesquite-grilled chicken breast marinated in fresh citrus and chiles.
I love their chicken fajitas. I get them every time, without fail. The chicken is moist and flavorful. Their refried beans are among my favorite of all time. It’s just such a great combination!
And just because we haven’t had enough sweets this week, for dessert we shared the fried ice cream.
After all the eating I have been doing this week I was dying to get a serious sweat on. When I was getting ready to come to Phoenix last week, I looked up to see if there were any Pure Barre classes in the area. Lucky for me there was! I convinced my sorority sister Elizabeth to sign up with me. Well last night was our class and it couldn’t have come at a better time
I met Elizabeth at the Phoenix location for the evening class. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had never taken a barre style class before. The front desk ladies were really nice and walked us back and got us set up with our gear. I wore my Lululemon wunder unders and a tank. For the class you just wear your socks!
According to their flier:
Pure Barre is a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs, and burns fat in record-breaking time. Utilizing the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements set to fantastic music, Pure Barre is the fastest, most effective, yet safest way to change your body.
Lift my seat, tone my thighs, and burn fat? Sign me up! This class was no joke. Our instructor Sarah really put us through our paces. The second the class started we were working, and working hard. The beginning of the class focused on upper body strength. We just the light hand weights for this. Don’t let the small weight fool you … my shoulders and triceps were BURNING. There was also a ton of ab work before moving into lower body. I am a lift heavy kind of girl but I have honestly never felt my legs turn to jello the way they did during this class. My thighs were screaming and I loved it. The hour long class literally flew by in record time! I think the awesome music and the anguish in my legs disguised the time for me
Overall I highly recommend taking a barre style class if you have the opportunity. I am bummed I can’t get a membership and go all the time. If you are ever in Phoenix, stop by the Pure Barre there. They are pretty awesome
Thanks for coming with my Elizabeth!
Have you ever taken a barre style class before? What did you think?

Sounds like an awesome day! I took a Physique 57 class once. Though it burned more than any other workout I’ve ever tried, I was surprisingly not sore the next day. I liked it though!

I’m not “sore” today … but I do feel a tinge in my muscles! Particularly my derrière haha.
There is Pure Barre in Seattle, but I have been reluctant to try it. However, “lift my seat, tone my thighs, and burn fat” are the exact words I need to get me to try something. I am going to add this to my to-do list when I return to the States.
Do it!! You won’t regret it … well your wallet might when you fall in love and want a membership haha.
ohh we just had one of these open in columbus but i’m definitely too scared to try it!

YAY!! So glad you loved your first-ever barre class. I am ADDICTED and incredibly in love with that style of workout. It’s changed my body entirely. I can’t wait to start teaching it!!

JUST DO IT! You will be so happy you did
SO much burn post-Pure Barre. Like icy hot all over my thighs/booty. LOVED it and, if I could afford regular attendance, I’d be ON IT!

I know right? The price is definitely the kicker! BUT it is a great splurge every once in awhile to shake things up
I used to do ballet which I know is a bit different than PB, but it makes me remember how much I loved to dance. I really should ditch the treadmill some days and do some moves.

I used to do ballet too! I have to say though the moves were NOTHING like my barre work in class haha. And my bum hasn’t been this sore either
I just purchased a groupon like deal for a barre class. I can’t wait to try it! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Been doing Pure Barre the last 3 months in Colorado….LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!! Keep going and you’ll definitely notice a difference. They change it up all the time so it’s always challenging…I’d recommend it to anyone!
I LOVE barre classes! I did Physique and my ass was sore for days!! I just started Cardio Barre (VERY fast pace, but another good one). Good way to vary workouts!

I love everything about this post! What a great photo of you and Emmie. Your meal looks to die for, that salsa is chunky just the way I like it. I LOVE fajitas, so easy to customize. That fried ice cream looks so good and the perfect sharing dessert! Your Pure Barre outfit is cute too, you and your friend look adorable. Glad you enjoyed the class! Always have wanted to try it.
