WIAW: Vacation Edition
| February 15, 2012 | Posted by Madeline @ Food, Fitness, and Family under Dessert, Dinner, Lunch, Restaurants, Vacation, WIAW |
Oh hey hey! It’s another Wednesday! Time to link up with the wonderful Jenn from Peas and Crayons for another fantastic version of “What I Ate Wednesday!” Although this is “love your veggies month”, this week’s WIAW is in vacation mode. Basically sums up some restaurant eating
Did not get photographed. Bad blogger. My mom made me some mean French toast though
Lunch
My mom, Emmie, and I picked my step-grandma Vera up for lunch to celebrate Valentine’s Day together. We decided to go to The White Chocolate Grill. It is a chain restaurant but one I had never been to before. They opened one up in Scottsdale. Our waiter yesterday at True Food Kitchen said it was a must hit in the area so we were excited that we already had reservations for Valentine’s Day! The White Chocolate Grill boasts classic American fare in a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired atmosphere.
For lunch I got the Southern Chicken Salad.
Crispy hand-battered chicken, field greens, smoky bacon, cherry tomatoes, avocado, chopped eggs and house made croutons with ranch dressing.
Certainly not the healthiest option but it sure was tasty! The chicken breading was incredibly flavorful and the ranch dressing didn’t overpower the salad.
For dessert we shared their signature White Chocolate Brownie.
A Warm Blonde Brownie, Freshly Baked with Callebaut Chocolate and Topped with French Vanilla Ice Cream, Warm Chocolate Sauce and Whipped Cream.
Holy yum! We all agreed that this dessert was amazing. My grandma doesn’t normally eat a lot of sweets and she even took some home with her. It was that good!
Dinner
The other night we met my step-brother Tony at Sauce to grab a quick bite to eat. My mom and Sam are regulars there … to the point that they know the manager really well and most of the staff. They meet their neighbors for dinner at least once a week. I tend to always make a trip to Sauce with them when I am home. Sauce is known for their thin-crust pizzas, fresh ingredients, and wine.
Tony got the Pepperoni and Crimini Mushroom Pizza.
I got the Mozzarella and Fontina Cheese and Basil pizza. It is my “go to” at Sauce … meaning I get it every time. Haha.
I seriously love this pizza. The crust is super thin and crispy and the sauce is amazingly delicious.
I realize that my blog posts this week are like “Madeline’s Restaurant Week” haha. As you know, in Saint Robert we don’t have a lot to choose from so one of the things I look forward to most on vacations is the food. It’s the foodie in me
BUT I REALLY need to get a good workout in so I don’t go back to Missouri 5 lbs heavier lol.
Good thing for me is that tonight I am taking a Pure Barre class with my sorority sister Elizabeth! I can’t wait to tell you all about it tomorrow
What did you eat today? Did you link up with Jenn?

Those are some seriously good looking meals. White chocolate brownie? Why have I never had this?
Girl they are amazing!! Definitely find one and eat it immediately!

I’m not eating anything much today because I have a stomach bug. So far I’ve had half an english muffin and a bag of popcorn! Haha
