Oh my goodness friends! I hope you all had as great of a weekend as I did! Maria was here all weekend and we had an absolute blast. After 4 years of long-distance friendship it was amazing to finally meet her. On top of spending time with my long-lost BFF we got down and dirty in Atlanta for the Dirty Girl Mud Run. I am so excited to tell you all about it … another day 😉
This weekend also marked the last week of Best Body Bootcamp. I am so sad that it is over but I wanted to share my reflections on the last 8 weeks. First, I cannot say enough great things about Tina’s program. She put together an amazing 8 weeks.
I definitely saw results following the bootcamp regimen. I lost both some inches and pounds and noticed a significant increase in my overall strength. The one thing I would like to do over is do the prescribed cardio. Since I was training for the Go! St. Louis Half Marathon I did my own cardio program. I am thinking about repeating the bootcamp program over the next 8 weeks and do it more “by the book” just for kicks … and because I love the strength portions THAT much! Although I didn’t complete weeks 7 & 8 due to injuring my foot and moving to Savannah, I know they had to have been amazing and I can’t wait to do them now!
I am so proud of Tina for doing something so incredible. She motivated literally HUNDREDS of people into working out and provided a program that individuals at all fitness levels were able to do. Whether you were a beginner or a pro you were pushed by Tina’s workouts. Rumor has it she is thinking about doing version 2 this summer sometime 😉 I will definitely be signing up if she does!

Time to get dirty!!
The day has finally come. Hello Dirty Girl Atlanta!! I will be hitting the road north with Maria and Victoria and cannot wait! I have been looking forward to this amazing all-girl mud run for awhile now and it is hard to believe that it is here.
We plan on hitting up Trader Joe’s while we are in town and seeing some other fabulous FitFluential women including Kelly Olexa herself!!
Maria and I have already had a blast together … it’s actually hard to believe this is the first time we have “met”. We hit up an awesome steakhouse last night and made triple chocolate puppy chow, however, both of those things deserve blog posts of their own 😉
Wish us luck as we go tackle some “pretty muddy stuff” and 8 hours of driving

Yesterday morning as I was unpacking the 1,316 box the doorbell rang and it was the mailman delivering an inconspicuous box. It turned out to be a day-making surprise!
Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean is one of my best blogging buddies turned genuine friends. Whenever I need a friend I know she is only a text away and always seems to say the right thing. She obviously knew what a nightmare it was this past week and went out of her way to brighten my day. Even though we haven’t “met” yet I know that WHEN (not if) we do it will just click.
Lindsay included some amazing foodies treats including a new-to-me flavor of PB Co., couscous, Love Grown Foods granola, and some oatmeal. Not to mention the super cute plates!
How CUTE is this dress for Emmalyne?? Lindsay picked out the cutest summer dress! Since it was 90 degrees today this kind of outfit is going to be perfect for the hot, humid summer ahead of us. She also got me a really nice scarf.
Getting this box seriously made my day. It also got me thinking about my other Internet friends turned real friends. If you had told me a year ago that I would make some pretty incredible friends via the Internet and blogging I probably would have laughed. But here I am, getting a “be happy” package from one such friend. It is amazing to me that blogging can establish such incredible connections. The fact that Lindsay wanted to go out and do something so incredibly kind for me truly makes me feel special. I can’t wait until we can finally hang out in person.
When I have had the pleasure of meeting some of my blogging friends it has been so much fun. It’s kind of funny when you meet a blog friend for the first time because you already know so much about them … you can immediately ask questions pertaining to current issues they are facing. It takes the “small talk” out of meeting someone and gets to the meat of the matter.
Kristen was the first blog friend I met. Since MacKenna and Emmalyne are only 2-weeks apart we have a lot in common already. I am really sad that we don’t live in the same state anymore.
Kristen and I also met Katie in St. Louis. Katie ran the Go! St. Louis Half as well and has a sweet little boy. Again, another person I am going to miss from Missouri! Missing from the picture is Annica, a fellow FitFluential Ambassador and Go! St. Louis running buddy
One blogging friend turned real friend I can’t wait to meet at some point (hopefully) soon is Lisa. Lisa’s daughter Caroline is a little older than Emmie and Lisa and I are working on a really fun project that I can’t wait to tell you more about when the time is right.
AND probably the MOST excited thing ever is happening later tonight … Maria is coming in to town!!
Maria is kind of a special case and I mentioned in a little in her guest post. She is a “real” friend who blogs but we haven’t met. Maria and Chris went to different high schools in Korea but knew each other. She and I were also engaged and planning our weddings at the same time. We started chatting on Facebook, ended up regularly emailing, and eventually moved on to Skype conversations. Now, not a day goes by where we aren’t texting or chatting. We have gone thru many of life’s most important moments together … our weddings, deployments, and babies. I am so flipping excited to finally meet her! We are heading up to Atlanta tomorrow to run the Dirty Girl Mud Run and I can’t wait!!

This morning we woke up to weather too perfect NOT to run in.
The sun was shining, birds were singing, and temperatures were in the 60’s. Needless to say since my mom is here and on Emmie duty, Chris and I laced up our sneakers and headed outside.
First, can I just say how amazing it is to run in new sneakers?? I got a new pair of Brooks Adrenalines at the Go! St. Louis Expo and this is my first time lacing the up. It’s like walking on clouds.
We headed out to do an easy loop around the new hood. It honestly took at least 1/2 a mile for my legs to loosen up but then I felt great. I will say that there was a noticeable difference in my endurance since I have taken almost 2 weeks off all activity. Something else that is WAY different from Missouri is that our area is completely flat. Haha. The Go! St. Louis 1/2 was an incredibly challenging course full of rolling hills. Running on flat was cake
I ended up doing the 2 miles in 18:43 or a 9:21/mile pace.
When I got home though I felt awful. I made the mistake of running on an empty stomach so when I stopped I felt really sick. Luckily a quick breakfast of Rudi’s whole-wheat with flax English muffins with PB, some jam, and chia seeds did the trick.
AND because I know you all miss her more than me … here is Emmie trying scrambled egg yolks for the first time. Don’t let her expression fool you … she loved it and gobbled them up! More on how Baby Led Weaning is going for us coming soon 😉
We are spending the rest of the morning unpacking and cleaning. This afternoon we are heading to Savannah to do some shopping and go out for dinner. My mom leaves tomorrow so this is our last hoorah
How long do you wait to run after a race?

Oh my gosh guys … I am SO excited to be back on the blogosphere! Thank you for still being here! All I can say is that the last couple of days have been full of emotion.
When we got to Savannah on Saturday we immediately set out to paint the house. As we got deeper into the house serious red flags started popping up.
1. There were random wires EVERYWHERE. I guess the home owner liked to do his own electrical work. We have since had an electrician come out because we were a little nervous about it being a potential safety hazard. One of the doozies the owner left us was connecting wires to the lighting of the microwave and using that to power lights underneath the kitchen cabinets and some lighting in the kitchen. When you press the light button on the microwave not only does the microwave light come on but the rest do as well. The electrician said in 30+ years of working he’s never seen it done before. HA. Luckily the electrician is going to cut some of the random wires and place boxes over the areas he needs to.
2. Missing baseboards. The baseboards in the pantry and laundry room were missing exposing grossness. All the other baseboards in the house were installed by the owner at a half-rate job. I am going to be caulking them myself.
3. There are holes in the walls. Again, Mr. Owner likes wires, so he installed digital photo frames throughout the house and took them when he moved leaving 3 in holes in the walls.
4. The blinds are NASTY. Nothing more to say.
5. The handle on the back door is broken. The only way to keep the door shut is to deadbolt the door. This can only be done with a key.
6. The house was filthy. They sent a cleaning lady today but she didn’t do the best job. We have been scrubbing cabinets endlessly.
We have spent the last couple of days painting, cleaning, and arguing with our property management company. After several visits and one home visit we finally got work orders put in for all of our complaints. They should be coming to fix everything this week. I am absolutely exhausted because on top of everything else Emmie has decided she wants to get up 2-3 times a night again. Apparently there is a 6-month sleep regression … not happy because the 4-month sleep regression nearly killed me haha.
I desperately need to get back to blogging about my favorite things … food, fitness, and family. On my agenda this week is to scope out the gym we are going to join and get ready for Go Dirty Girl this Saturday!!
