WHEW! Another week down of Best Body Bootcamp and I am still loving every second of it! This week definitely changed things up a bit. The focus for the strength portion was on pyramid sets. You start with a higher rep count for you first set (15) and lower the reps but increase the weight each set. I did 3 sets for 15, 10, and 8 reps respectively. Increasing the weight each set totally set my muscles on fire! My favorite workout this week was D. I loved the fact that it was so back intensive since that is one of the areas I am trying to increase muscle. Favorite move of the week :
cable lat pulldown with wide overhand grip

Here is what my week of training looked like:
SUNDAY: 7 mile run
MONDAY: BBB Workout A + Plank Challenge
TUESDAY: 5 mile run + Plank Challenge
WEDNESDAY: 10x400m Repeats (3.3 miles) and BBB Workout D + Plank Challenge
THURSDAY: 3 mile run + Plank Challenge
FRIDAY: BBB Workout D + Plank Challenge
SATURDAY: 3 mile run
I am hoping I can stay on top of things this week since the movers will be here Monday-Wednesday. Tomorrow is also my last run before my half-marathon meaning this week is all taper runs. Chris graduates Career Course Friday and we also have a ton of “see you laters” to say. I scheduled all my gym sessions in my planner so I am using that to keep me accountable
How do you fit working out in when life gets crazy? What’s your favorite exercise for your back?

Well … here we are. Officially 6 months after I had the sweetest baby girl in the world. I spent yesterday grieving the loss of Emmalyne’s infancy since she is a REAL baby now. Haha. Since I posted all about Emmie yesterday, today is all about her mama. Miss my last post-baby body updates?
A quick reminder of what 5 months looked like …
AND here I am at 6…
I’ll be honest … I don’t feel like the pictures show that much of a change. However … check this out.
That was me at 3-months postpartum. Same shirt … same pants. And I can see a BIG difference. First off, that Lululemon top is loose on my now. It wasn’t at 3 months. I can also see a major change in my arms and face even. I am SO proud of how far I have come in the last 3 months
What do the numbers say?
No major changes but I am still losing weight and inches. I am just over 1.5 lbs until my pre-pregnancy weight. My high waist and around my belly are pretty much at my pre-pregnancy measurements. I don’t think my hips are going to go down any more because those too are right around pre-pregnancy size. Overall I am content with my measurements right where they are.
I think the biggest aid in my weight loss is the fact that I fuel my body properly every single day. I am still hitting my goal of around 2,300 calories to compensate for working out and breastfeeding Emmie. Seriously friends … I didn’t start noticing results until I changed my diet up. You can read more about that in my counting calories post. On that note … no I do not still count calories. Now that I know how much I should be eating each day I am pretty good at getting there without counting. Remember … I wasn’t trying to eat less … I was trying to eat more! Haha. Also, I still have my handy dandy water bottle from the hospital that I carry around the house with me to keep myself chugging water. I still indulge in my favorite unhealthy food but I keep my goal at eating 80% clean and 20% whatever.
My half-marathon is a week from tomorrow … AHHH!! I have been doing a really good job at sticking to my training plan and alternate my runs indoors on the treadmill and outdoors with the jogging stroller. I had one really bad run this month but overall I am happy with my progress. Who would have thought I would be a sub-10 minute mile girl? Not me that’s for sure. I am also still going strong with Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp and I have honestly loved every minute of it. I am really missing my beloved CrossFit though and can’t wait to work that back into the mix when bootcamp is over.
If you recall, one of the ways I started loving my mom body was by buying a new pair of jeans that fit it. I am SO excited to say that those jeans are now significantly too big. The best part? I am officially back in my FAVORITE pair of pre-pregnancy jeans. The very ones I thought I would never wear again. I tried them on around 5.5 months postpartum on a whim. I hadn’t tried since 3 months. I thought I was setting myself up for disappointment. When they slid over my hips AND buttoned I literally did a happy dance. And then called Chris. And then called my mom. Any woman who has had a baby knows the rush of emotions that made me feel. It may seem trivial to some, but being able to put those jeans on pretty much summed up my journey to getting my body back. It was a moment of accomplishment.
Overall I am so proud of where I am now. A lady in Walmart the other day looked at Emmie … looked at me … and said “you obviously didn’t have a hard time getting your body back”. I politely said thank you and continued on. What I wanted to tell her was no … it was hard. It was hard work, sweat, and a few tears that got me here. The weight and inches didn’t magically fall off. I pushed myself to do more and go harder in order to make it count. Although others may not know the hours I have spent in the gym, I DO. And that’s all that matters.
I am going to continue posting my post-baby body updates until Em is 1 mainly because they help keep me accountable to myself. Also, I like seeing the progress I have made. My current goal is to PR in my half-marathon next weekend. Beyond that, I would like to continue to tone and add muscle. The number of the scale is finicky and that’s ok but I wouldn’t mind it reaching 135lbs which is my comfortable weight. The most improtant thing though is for me to be able to continue breastfeeding Emmalyne and provide her with that nourishment until she is one. Everything else is gravy.
Thank you for all your kind words and support. They have really meant a lot throughout the journey. AND just because she is the cutest baby girl ever …
