Chris’ CCC Graduation

Yesterday, Chris graduated from the Military Police Captain’s Career Course. We moved to Missouri entirely for this training. He has spent the last six months learning the ins and outs of being a company commander in the Military Police Corps. He even graduated on the Commadant’s List. Emmie and I braved the torrential downpour to go support our Soldier. I am SO proud of him for working so hard and successfully completing another milestone in his military career.
Ummm holy crap. My husband looks like he’s 18. He’s almost 27 BTW.
Although there aren’t many things I will miss about Missouri (aside from the great friends we have made, whom I will miss greatly), one thing I will seriously miss are the short hours Chris has had these last six months. Career course is full of important and relevant information but at the same time it is a time for family. The instructors understand that many of the Captains will be taking command of companies in the near future and that their family time will then be siginificantly altered. Or in different cases Soldiers are headed overseas following CCC. Knowing all this, the Soldiers often found themselves released by 3PM etc. I have been spoiled having Chris home BY 5 and sometimes for lunch. All of that is about to change in Savannah. First, we will be living 20 miles from base so there will be no midday lunch surprised. Second, Chris will be taking command of a company in a few short weeks which is going to be an the most time consuming, most stressful, most amazing time of his military tenure. I guess we are about to be back in the “real” Army now …
We are on our way to St. Louis this morning to pick up our race packets for the Go! St. Louis half-marathon tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather forecast for race day dramatically improves in the next couple of hours. Right now there is an 80% chance of rain and a high of 80*. Fun times … not. Can’t wait to share the expo with you all!!
Are you racing this weekend?

Congratulations to Chris! That’s quite an achievement — and yes, he does look like he’s 18!! Lucky man, lucky girl! I love the picture of the three of you, it’s perfect!
Hoping for great weather for your race! Good luck!

Aw, I love your picture perfect family
Congratulations to Chris! He’s definitely rocking the 18-year-old look in that picture, but tell him not to feel bad. People ask me if I’m 12 all the livelong day…haha!

Emmie is soooooo beautiful there! Makes me “almost” want to have a cute baby too! haha!
Don’t stress about the race…the last half I ran had a 90% chance of rain with 35+mph winds and we actually missed the rain…not the wind. Bring trash bags! Good luck girl!

Ah…. company command. We will finish up in June. It was crazy enough to make us switch branches! (we’re infantry until we move) Good luck with the race!
Congrats!!! Hope you both have a wonderful time at the half tomorrow and that your second half of the move goes well!
Hopefully your move goes smoothly! Will you be using the gym on base? Hunter AAF is a pretty small base, but they’ve got a great gym and lots of classes for 3 bucks a pop! I’m there with the Sailor 3-4 times a week.
Awesome news! Congrats Chris.
Hope your race goes well.

Congrats!! That is a great achievement. Command is definitely an adjustment. I would suggest you being the one doing the surprise drop ins for lunch! It helped our family out a ton!
