Emmalyne: Month Seven

Man oh man.  Here we are again and I can’t believe it.  My baby girl is 7 months old meaning it’s time for another one of Emmalyne’s updates.  New to my blog?  Start from the beginning:

One Month

Two Months

Three Months

Four Months

Five Months

Six Months

Em is growing like a weed!  I don’t know her official heigh and weight since we don’t have another doctor’s appointment until she is 9 months but she is steadily outgrowing clothes and I needed to raise her exercauser!

Clothes Size: 6-9 months, 9 months, 6-12 months
Diaper Size: 3

Every single day more and more of Emmalyne’s personality shines through.  She is starting to learn how to play games with us and is currently loving peek-a-boo!  I put her blanket over her face, she waits until I ask where she is, and then she pulls it down and laughs!  I LOVE IT.  She is definitely a little imp and gets the most devlish smile on her face when she is up to something.  She is still quite the firecracker and she keeps us on our toes.  She is also starting to give us hugs and kisses.  I pat her on the back all the time and now she has started patting me on the back when I pick her up.  Melts my heart.

Still going strong!  She gets one bottle a day when daddy puts her to bed but other than that she is breastfeeding like a champ.  She nurses 5 times a day right now but I think she is almost ready to drop a feeding and go down to 4.  There is always one feeding a day where she just isn’t interested.  If Emmie wants to eat more one day though I go with the flow.  She has started pulling on my shirt when she is hungry which could lead to some interesting situations in the near future 😉

We have pretty much adopted an entirely Baby Led Weaning approach at this point when it comes to solids.  I have a post lined up to go into this further in the next couple of weeks.  Basically Emmie just prefers real food and feeding herself so we are going with it.  The only food she has been iffy about so far are blueberries but she is starting to warm up to them.  We will feed her baby yogurt and oatmeal from a spoon and have some organic baby food pouches to take with us if we are out and about but for the most part she is eating “real” foods and LOVING it.

WE HAVE TEETH!  Right as my mom was leaving after helping us move Em lost her mind.  She cried inconsolably for about two days and low and behold the next day two pearly whites were shining through!  It is so weird to see them in there now and to feel them.  Since taking this picture they have come in substantially more and are truly teeth.  My baby is growing up :(

Homegirl LOVES to play.  Her favorite toy is this cube that my mom bought her that sings and counts and is just plain awesome.  Other than that Sophie is still a favorite as is her exercauser.  Emmie is great at playing on her own and will just jibber-jabber away as she does.  We love to sit in her nursery, play, and listen to Raffi music in the afternoons.

Emmie has become mildly obsessed with her blanket.  We have 4 Aden and Anais blankets that are interchangeable to her.  Now, all I have to do is give her her blanket at nap time and she immediately grabs it, buries her face in it, yells, and falls asleep.  It is her comfort and her love.  She is also starting to love her “lovie” more.  It’s the white bear-blanket in the above picture.  Her mimi (my mom) gave it to her.

Every single day I realize more and more how blessed I am.  Being Emmalyne’s mother is the greatest gift God has ever given me.  She is the most amazing little person I have ever met and I love seeing the world through her eyes every day.  I love you baby girl … you are my sunshine!

Check back tomorrow for my 7-month post-baby body update!!
