Wedding: The Ceremony

We are having a blast at The Happiest Place on Earth! Since it is Saturday that means it is time for the third installment of my wedding recap series. This week is all about our ceremony. If you want to catch up here are my last wedding posts:
Our ceremony was held in the outdoor garden area of Stonebridge Manor in Mesa, AZ. We got lucky … we got married in June in Arizona where temperatures skyrocket. Earlier that week the thermometer topped out at around 105 degrees. The day of our wedding it was a “cool” 95 degrees. BEAUTIFUL summer weather for AZ. On top of that, we rented cooling systems to be placed throughout the outdoor venue and it was really comfortable.
To got married you obviously need both a bride and a groom. These photographs are two of my favorite from our individual portraits before the wedding.
I had both my mom and my dad walk me down the aisle because they are both equally important people in my life.
I think this photo captures Chris’ face and emotion perfectly as he saw me walking down the aisle. The last time we had seen each other was the night before at our rehearsal dinner so I am thankful our photographer captured this special moment for us.

Our venue was perfect for us and the vision we had for our wedding. Our pastor was amazing and personal. We didn’t do a traditional wedding reading. Instead, my Godmother read an exempt from one of my favorite books “The Alchemist”.
When he looked into her eyes, he learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke – the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love. Something older than humanity, more ancient than the desert. What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life, and that, with no need for words, she recognized the same thing. Because when you know the language, it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.
The ceremony in pictures …
One of my favorite things about our wedding ceremony was what our pastor did leading up to our first kiss. As we did the sand ceremony he quietly walked to the back of the audience with his wireless microphone because immediate after the sand ceremony would be when he pronounced us man and wife. He does this so that he isn’t in the photographs of the first kiss. I thought it was genius and because of what he did we had a perfect photo:
