SATURDAY
Em and I were up bright and early Saturday morning to head down to the Historic District of Savannah to meet the lovely Victoria and Brittany at Forsyth Park. You already know Victoria from the Dirty Girl Mud Run and she will probably be making MANY appearances on my blog since she is a local friend! I have been following Brittany’s blog for awhile now and Hailey is only a couple weeks older than Emmalyne is. When she told me she was going to be in town I was super excited to finally get to meet the both of them.
The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful which was awesome after a week full of rain.
Forsyth Park is located in the Historic District of Savannah and is absolutely gorgeous. It regularly hosts concerts, exhibits, sports matches, etc. and is the perfect place for an afternoon run or picnic. Every Saturday morning this is a farmers market as well. We thought this would be the perfect place to start!
There were actually a ton of vendors out for the market. They had a little bit of everything: local organic meats, eggs, dairy, veggies, fruits, and jams. I ended up buying some delicious organic blueberries from a local farm and the most amazing raspberry watermelon jam. Oh, and I couldn’t help but snagging a bag of genuine Georgia peaches
I could have bought a lot more but didn’t bring a cooler with me … next time for sure! After we were shopped out we found a nice place to sit and let the girls play while we chatted. Seriously, how beautiful is this?
The girls didn’t quite know what to think of each other but were aware that there was another “tiny person” there with them. Em was pretty focused on trying to eat grass. Haha.
Soon our stomachs started to rumble and we began to make our way deeper into the Historic District but not before we got a group picture in front of the main Forsyth fountain!
We ended up deciding on the Soho Cafe South. It was SUCH a cute restaurant. Each table had different linens and china. Their motto is “Soho South Care – Where Food is Art”. So fun!
Victoria said that the tomato bisque soup was to die for so we all ordered a cup to go with our meals. She was right – it was absolutely amazing! I love tomato soup and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.
For my meal I got the salmon BLT on a grilled challah roll with herb mayo, arugula, tomato, and bacon. It was delicious as well.
Everything was so good and I can’t wait to start taking friends there when they come to visit. Apparently they have an awesome Sunday brunch as well! The food was tasty and all but the company was even better. It is so refreshing when I meet blog friends who are exactly who they are in the blog in real life. Brittany is just as kind, warm, and friendly as I thought she would be. Victoria is just plain awesome. All and all it was a wonderful day!
SUNDAY
Sunday was not nearly as exciting as Saturday was haha. Our day was full of chores and starting to get things together for DISNEY this week. I did manage to sneak in a pretty sweaty workout to start my day off right.
I did Julie’s “Beat Treadmill Boredom” workout but changed it up a bit with different exercises off the treadmill to focus more on full-body strength training. It was a great workout packed in to 45 minutes. I highly recommend it.
This week is jam packed for us as we get ready to head out of town. We are meeting my dad, step-mom, and 2 younger brothers in Orlando so we can introduce the Emster to the Mouse himself. I CAN’T WAIT. This trip MAY be more for me than her
AND in case you missed it over the weekend … I posted the second installment of my wedding series … all about my wedding party!
How was your weekend? Any fun Disney World tips for me?

Oh I love DIsney! Have the best time with your family. I’m pretty jealous you got to meet Brittany!

Do you have a city mini jogger? That’s what I just bought! Do you love it??
I do love it! However, contrary to the name it is not an actual jogging stroller. It is perfect for everyday stuff though. I use a BOB for running!
I am so glad you are loving Savannah! I LOVE Forsyth park:) So “southern”:) I am so excited to be in Savannah soon:) The Farmer’s Market looks amazing! I love Farmers markets! And yes, peaches are definitely a good choice in Georgia!

The Emster may be scared of Mickey/the characters…my little bro was OBSESSED with Goofy (on TV, stuffed animals, toys, etc). We took him to meet Goofy at Disney and I was ready for a magic moment – but then he was petrified and wouldn’t go near him! Hahaha but he was older than Em and knew how to be afraid if that makes sense. She may not at all! I just can’t wait to see Emmy pictures at Disney!
I love Hailey too, I am such a fan of these blogger babies (and their awesome moms of course) and it’s great to see those two together. Cuteness overload in one pic! Funny how they didn’t know what to make of a little friend.
Umm the pickle next to your sandwich looks fantastic. I WANT IT. Oh, and the sandwich too!

Haha I wouldn’t be surprised if she isn’t a fan of the characters but just think how much fun THOSE pictures might be lol.
Savannah Blogger that is happy to have found you.

sigh, I miss Savannah. I was only there for like a week (LOL), but I fell in love! so much fun
I LOVE Forsyth Park. We are there at least once a week. It’s actually where my daughter broke her arm, playing on the playground. There is a free Zumba class at the park on Saturdays, which around 10 am but with summer coming it will probably be moved to around 8:30 like they did last summer. I was at Forsyth Park Saturday as well but not for the Farmer’s Market or Zumba. I took some family/engagemnet photos for a friend. That park is so beautiful for pictures.
Sunday, I made a trip to Beaufort, SC (where my hubby was staioned before getting out of the Marine Corp) for a friend’s baby shower. If you’re ever looking to get out of Savannah for a day, Beaufort is a very pretty little town.
