It’s only fitting that Emmalyne turned eight months the day after Chris’ and my anniversary. She is the greatest thing to come out of our marriage and I am excited to celebrate her today! It’s hard to believe my baby is 2/3 of a year already! In case you missed what Em was up to the last few months:
It is darn near impossible to do these photo shoots now without Chris here to distract Emmie and make her look at me. Girl is on the move and doesn’t want to sit still long enough for mom to snag some photos. Luckily I was able to catch a few keepers for this month 😉
How is Emmie measuring?
No clue. Her next appointment is next month. She is wearing 6-12 month clothes and is still super tall. She doesn’t quite fill out the waist of any of her pants but definitely needs the length. She’s long and skinny just like my side of the fan!
If there is one word that describes Em it’s “busy”. Little girl always has to be busy. She inspects everything and likes to figure out how it works. She is so full of personality and loves to show it to everyone. When she is out in public she puts on little shows for everyone to see. She cocks her head to the side, smiles, and waves when she has someone’s attention. It’s hilarious. She uses her eyebrows a lot to convey her feelings and it seriously makes me laugh when she raises them when she’s planning to do something or knows she is being cute. I think we are going to have our hands full with this one.
Still going strong! Em nurses about 4-5 times a day now but her sessions are pretty short. My goal is to make it to one-year at a minimum. Starting to think about the weaning process and how I want to do that and when. If anyone has posts on their experiences with weaning I would LOVE to read them! I figure I have a few months to come up with a game plan and I am in no rush to wean.
Baby Led Weaning is still going great for us. Em seriously loves food … maybe she gets that from me? She’s addicted to Mum-Mums and does a happy dance and almost hyperventilates when she sees the wrapper. I haven’t found a food yet that she won’t eat so it’s pretty easy. I love when we have our meals together and that she eats when we eat so it’s a family affair.
Em is SO much fun to play with. We are currently working on clapping and she is kind of figuring it out. Other than that we read lots of books, listen to tons of music, and practice standing. Some of her favorite “toys” are: the remote, laundry baskets, socks, Mum-Mum wrappers, and Bailey’s tail. In the bath she now makes a huge mess with all the splashing she does with her hands now that she’s just in the big bath now and has complete freedom.
She still only has her bottom two teeth but I can tell she is working on the top two. The gums are starting to bulge/swell so I know they are on their way down. She goes in an out of being cranky and I am not looking forward to them poking through. Such a hard thing for babies to go through
*Knock on wood* … sleep is going great! Em goes down easily at night at 7:00PM and sleeps through to night until between 7-8AM. When she wakes up in the morning she likes to hang out in her bed and play for a little while letting me get myself together before we start our day. She takes 2-3 naps a day. If she gets two good naps then she is good to go. If one is too short she might take a late afternoon catnap. No complaints in the sleep department. Totally aware than I just jinxed us 😉
I seriously don’t know how I got lucky enough to call this angel “mine”. She brings so much joy to my life and I can’t imagine life without her in it. My world revolves around her … she is literally my “sun”. I pray to God everyday to give me the grace to be the best mother I can possibly be because she deserves that.
I love you baby girl. You are my sunshine.
