Happy Friday everyone! Thank you SO much for your kind comments yesterday about my post baby body progress! It meant so much to me that you took time of your day to leave me some love. :)
One of my BEST friends from college got in last night! Courtney and I were Alpha Phis together at UofA and I am so flipping excited she is here visiting for the weekend. We have tons of fun things planned and I can’t wait to tell you all about them. I am looking forward to showing her around my new home and playing with Emmie tons!! Before getting into the fun of the weekend, let’s take a look back at my week in workouts:
You might notice something right away … I didn’t stick with the Runners World Summer Run Streak. My streak ended after a measly 4 days haha. It just wasn’t working for me and it felt like there was “pressure” to run rather than just running because I love it. My meeting Saturday lasted WAY longer than I had planned and Sunday is family day. SO I am ok with stopping it
I will keep running as I feel like it
On that note I am officially registered for two races this fall. First, I am running the Army Ten Miler in DC in October with a ton of my FitFluential peeps including Maria, Lisa, and Katie … among many others! I am really looking forward to this race. It’s been on my #FitnessBucketList for awhile and it will feel great to check it off! Two weeks after that I will be running the Rock’N'Roll Savannah Half Marathon. I am really hoping that I can PR and reach my current goal of a 2:10 half after not getting there for the Go! St. Louis. I would love to add a couple of 5Ks in to my calendar between now and then also
Another great thing this week is that yoga came back into my life. It has been awhile since I took an actual yoga class and it felt SO GOOD to be back practicing with others. I mastered a head stand on my own (unsupported) but seriously fail at crow. No matter how many years I practice that pose alludes me …. Ashley, since I know you’re reading, when you’re done with your 200 hour yoga cert will you advise me?? Haha. If anyone else has a tip for this pose I would LOVE to hear it!
Any-who … got to get to my weekend! We are heading to Hilton Head Island tomorrow to hit the beach and the outlets. Rumor has it this girl is coming with us
What was your favorite workout this week? Any fun plans for the weekend?

have a great weekend!!
One thing that helps me with crow is leaning forward enough so that I almost feel like I’m going to hit my face on the ground. A little scary, but it works (for me).

Yay for races! I signed up yesterday for the RnR Savannah half as well! Its less than 5 months away
I’m still trying to convince my boyfriend to do it with me, but he doesn’t know if he’s gonna be in racing shape by then—this is coming from the guy that runs a 17 minute 5k! I think he’s just being lazy hehe.. Victoria is running it too, maybe we can try to get together for some training runs!
Yes we should!!!

I love yoga as a workout both physically and mentally! And trust me, you’re not the only one who struggles with poses – even after years and years of practicing and teaching yoga I still find new ways to grow

Totally makes sense to stop the run streak if it’s not working for you. Why force it? I kind of love crow pose. The one thing that helped me was focusing on a point on the ground about a foot or two in front of me instead of looking straight down (which would then just make me fall over). Crow also requires you to engage you core so thinking about pulling you belly button up and in helps to get into the pose and maintain it. That’s what works for me and hope it helps!!

I think my problem is my arm placement …
Smart move to vacate the RWRunStreak if it wasn’t working for you. I wasn’t meant to add pressure. Good for you!

I’m with Sarah, I lean forward, lift my tailbone and focus on a spot to stare at and take deep breaths to hold the crow pose. Glad you’re finally doing yoga again, it’s done amazing things for me and I’ve noticed a huge difference in CrossFit. We did handstand pushups the other day and I didn’t gas out as easily! Also, have fun at Hilton head, you’ll LOVE it!

Yay DC and the Army 10 miler!! That’s on my bucket list too and I live in the DC area!
I love youre blog by the way. I’m pregnant with my first (due August 14th) and your post baby body posts are very inspirational already. Thank you!
Have you ever run the MO Cowbell Half-Marathon? (It used to be the Lewis & Clark Half) It’s in St. Charles and it’s a REALLY flat course and the race is held in October. It’s a great one to PR in!

When I was training for a half marathon I was really feeling the pressure of running as my only source of exercise. I really missed my kickboxing class and yoga and felt like running was ruling my life. Good of you to listen in on what your body wants and needs.
Heading to the beach and shopping sounds wonderful!
My favorite workout this week was a run on National Running Day – the sun came out after days of raining. It was awesome!
