Munchkin Meals

Not once in my wildest dreams did I think I would be “meal planning” for me 8 1/2 month old but here I am doing it. I also never realized how HARD it can be! Luckily, my girl Brittany from A Healthy Slice of Life had the genius idea of creating a link-up where moms can showcase what they are feeding their babies. I am super excited to be a part of this this week and maybe get some new ideas
Baby Led Weaning is still going strong over here with Emmalyne basically eating whatever we are. Without further ado … here are Em’s eats from yesterday!
BREAKFAST
Emmie enjoyed an egg scrambled with spinach and nutritional yeast, chopped blueberries, and 2 mini whole wheat waffles with 1 drop of syrup. She goes NUTS over the waffles. She finishes those first and then moves on to the rest of her meal haha.
LUNCH
Chopped turkey, steamed broccoli, and strawberries. Yes, I know strawberries are on the dreaded allergen list. Emmie got some by accident the other day, loved them, and didn’t have a reaction. Now they are a staple in our house. Chris and I both LOVE strawberries so it’s only fitting that she takes after us
SNACKS
Emmie enjoyed some yogurt melts while I cleaned the kitchen and prepped for dinner. We have tried a couple different organic brands and she loves them all. Here are some of her other favorite snacks:
Emmie actually woke up from her afternoon nap with a fever … she had one last week and it went away but it came back with a vengeance today. She fell asleep at 5PM and missed dinner. I woke her up at 6:45 to get her in her jammies, give her some advil, and nurse her. Chris worked late so he didn’t get home until 7:45 but Em was able to say good night to him before going back to bed. Poor baby
Since she skipped dinner, I thought I would share some of our favorite frozen go to foods:
Thanks Brittany for hosting such a fun link-up! Make sure you all check it out HERE.
If you’re a mom, what’s your baby’s favorite foods?

My babies just turned 2 today. They eat a lot now but what some of their favorites when they were just starting out on solids were beans, all fruit, cucumbers, homemade veggie muffins, waffles and pancakes.
What a great idea for Munchkin Meals!!

Brittany is quite the genius
I don’t have any children but love the idea of this post, like WIAW for babies! I will be tuning in for sure. Great idea, Brittany!
A note on those puffs by Plum Organics – I saw the owner of the company that invested in them when they were a start-up at an event! He spoke and had, of course, a very high opinion of them.

That’s awesome!! I have tried them and they’re not bad
LOVE this idea! I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old and when the time comes to start solids with him, I will be going through all these posts for different ideas. My 2 year old pretty much always ate what we ate so he’s used to lots of fruit and veggies. Right now we’re in a veggie slump but I still put it on his plate. He’s tried so many things at 2 years old that I didn’t attempt until my 20′s!

That’s my hope for Emmie too!
Where do you find the veggie tots and mini waffles? Whole Foods?

Publix and Kroger!
I don’t have any children of my own but I worked as a caregiver for a few years. This is such a great post!!

Wouldn’t have missed it!! XOXO
I found your site through Brittany’s link-up and it’s so fun to see what other people are feeding their babies. I love your daughter’s chevron button up- she looks adorable! Where did you find it?

I got it from Old Navy back in February. It might still be on their sales rack?? I love it and I am totally kicking myself for not getting it for 12-18 months too lol.
My 10 month old LOVES cheese! It was funning writing and reading all these munchkin meal posts! Looks like all our babies eat pretty similarly which makes sense because it seems like all of us eat pretty similarly.

That is SO true! Emmie loves cheese also
We didn’t do Baby Led Weaning with Jordyn, although we probably should have. Ever since starting her in solids at 5 months, we gave her little bits of our food to try but never as a whole meal. It didn’t long to realize she preferred table food over the jar foods and after trying to get her to eat her baby food, we gave up at 9 months and she was on table food.
She loved Mums and yogurt melts from the get-go. She would devour them!
I hope Em is feeling better today!

Her fever is off and on :/ Thanks for your thoughts
So I am a bad mom. I had no idea a few months ago that strawberries were a “forbidden food” and gave it to him pretty early. He loves them so we’re good to go. haha

That doesn’t make you a bad mom
I knew they were on the list and still gave them to Emmie haha.
My 1 year old loves waffles, too! Lately she’s also been loving organic string cheese and Dr. Praeger’s CA burgers.
Allison @RoadtoRoleModel recently posted..I Just Felt Like Running
Emmie goes NUTS for string cheese!! Eats and it and waves it around while reciting a soliloquy of some kind haha.
We also follow BLW and love it! My little Sam will be 9 months next week, and here are a few of his favorite things: tortellini, turkey burgers, bananas, blueberry waffles, strawberries, and roasted sweet potatoes. Thanks for sharing your Emmie’s favorites. She’s a doll!

Aww Sam is only a week older than Em! Mmm all that sounds so good!
I’m going to have to look for those Veggie tots. I think E wouuld scarf those up.

Where did you find all those cool organic stuff?!

I have found a lot of it at Kroger and Publix. The puffs, melts, and Mum Mums I get from Target.
Love this! Hannah is five months old and we’ve been eatig rice, sweet potatoes and bananas. Puréed, but I make my own. Avocados and peas are next. And maybe some oats. I’m a little intimidated by BLW but hope to incorporAte some elements soon.
Where do you get those happy bite things?!

I found them at Publix in the freezer section
What a healthy little Munchkin you have! She’s adorable! Ella goes crazy for the french toast i make her…haven’t tried waffles yet! I am sure she will love them!!! I was nervous about strawberries, but Ella had raspberries at about 7 or 8 months, which I found out later is on one of the “lists.” She loves them and never had a reaction. I gave her strawberries about about 10 months. They are so healthy and sweet…but they turn her cheeks pink LOL.
I love this link up!

Wow … didn’t know about the raspberries! Good to know haha.
I’ve heard that yogurt melts are a great snack for us grownups too when the sweet tooth hits! Have you tried them? Do they taste good?

Whoops, I didn’t know (2 years ago) that I was supposed to wait to introduce my daughter to strawberriea! No harm, no foul, right? And today, at almost 3, she will eat anything that is a berry!
