Farm Fresh: GE Freshpedition

One of my favorite things about living in Georgia is the abundance of farmer’s markets. We are lucky that in Richmond Hill there is a farmer’s market every Tuesday from 3-7PM at J.F. Gregory Park.
There is something special about farm fresh produce. I buy most of ours from a CSA that is always at the farmer’s market. They guarantee their products to be fresh and pesticide free. Did you know that the fresher your produce is the higher the nutritional content? Just another reason why I love it!
Now that I am a mom, choosing what my family eats has become even more important. I want Emmalyne to have the best and freshest foods available. We got quite the haul yesterday at the market:
Ensuring the freshness of your food goes beyond choosing where to buy it. Refrigerator technology is keeping up with the times on this. One of my favorite companies is leading the way.
GE’s French-door refrigerator is full of top-of-the-line and they decided to put it to the test. They hooked up one of their refrigerators to a generator and embarked on a 10 day road trip to deliver fresh food to a scientist living in the middle of no where. Check out the video to be impressed!
You better believe that whenever Chris and I own a house again I will be coveting one of these bad boys. Isn’t that video amazing?! I definitely have some fridge envy now
GE is continuing this same passion for fresh food with the #Freshpedition Sweepstakes. This sweepstakes uses Pinterest, which means you can actually pin for a chance to win all new GE kitchen appliances.
But wait, there’s even more to win!
You can also enter each day of the sweepstakes for a chance to win a $100 VISA® Prepaid Card. Entering for this prize is fun as you’re asked to pin your favorite fresh foods or your own recipes. Also, these pins when hashtagged with your state (e.g. #GEfreshTX) become part of a “Best of Fresh” map featuring freshness from around the country. Explore the map here: http://www.freshpedition.com/sweepstakes/fresh-map.htm

Do you have a fancy refrigerator? Do you have refrigerator envy now like me?

I totally have refrigerator envy right now! The one that came with our house when we bought it is ancient, and I know we could be so much more energy efficient with a new one. However, that would mean paying a plumber to come in to hook up a new fridge to water on top of the cost of a new fridge. With baby no. 1 on the way, the new fridge will just have to wait, but I’m miserable about it! In the mean time, I’m trying to convince hubby to buy us a freezer chest. Do you have one of those?
We don’t right now … we have an addition two door fridge/freezer in the garage

Love all the fresh veggies/fruits this time of year. We belong to a CSA and I love it. I know where everything comes from and that it is organic and we are supporting local farmers.

I think there’s a farmers market around here on Wednesday (maybe a 20 min drive), but I’ve never fully investigated. I do miss mine on Saturday’s because I haven’t seen the last week weekends, and I totally notice that I haven’t been eating as much fresh fruits or veggies, just proving how key it is to get to the market!!!
I really need to buckle down and make it this Saturday!!!
