Military Police Ball

Holy Monday Batman. I have to say I am kind of glad to see Monday because it means our crazy weekend is over! Haha. This was a long weekend over here. We had the Military Police Ball on Thursday night and Chris was off Friday. We had a ton to get done to prepare for Emmalyne’s 1st birthday this coming Saturday
One of my favorite parts of being an Army wife is the fact that I get to go to military balls. True story. How often in your adult life do you have an excuse to get all dressed up in formal wear? Not often. This was my 4th military ball since marrying Chris but the first that I actually wore a floor length dress. Back at Hood it was pretty normal for women to wear cocktail length dresses, so I was pretty pumped to wear a long one this year.
Back in June we went up to Hilton Head for a day at the beach and some shopping at the outlets. One of the stores I visited was BCBG. I LOVE BCBG but do not love their prices. I have had some serious good luck at the outlets, the store clearance rack, as well as department stores clearance. I have never bought anything full price from there. When I saw a beautiful black formal dress marked for $75 I HAD to try it on. And I am so glad I did. I fell in love and bought it not knowing when the ball would be but confident that I would get to wear my treasure.
Luckily for me, my opportunity came sooner rather than later on Thursday night when we get dolled up to head to downtown Savannah for the 71st Annual Military Police Ball.
A military ball is full of tradition. There are special toasts made, a table set for one in honor of POW/MIA Soldiers, a receiving line, and so much more. I had a great time meeting so many more spouses of our unit and getting to know others better. The food was pretty mediocre which was disappointing since tickets were pretty pricey. I know that hotel banquet food doesn’t have a reputation for being amazing but this was pretty bland. The best part? The guest speaker kept it to 10 minutes. That is the FIRST time for a ball I have attended. Major props to him.
We ate, enjoyed some cocktails, and danced our booties off on the dance floor. After, we headed to the Social Club, win our formal wear, to hang out for a bit with some of our friends. Heather and D graciously agreed to watch Emmie for us so we kept our evening out to a reasonable 11PM
Overall it was SO much fun getting to have a fun and nice night out with Chris. We don’t go on dates (alone) very often and I relish and cherish each one. Plus he looks darn good in uniform
How was your weekend? Ever attend a ball?
