Fitness Friday + Winter Shred Workout
| January 4, 2013 | Posted by Madeline @ Food, Fitness, and Family under Fitness Friday, Weekly Workouts |
I seriously can’t believe it’s Friday already! I have decided that all weeks should only be three days
Too bad the corporate world and the Army don’t agree with me. BOO. Anyway, it was a nice short week over here and I have managed to get in all my planned workouts so far so I am going to tap myself on the back
I also added a running + race recap tab on the blog … check it out! AND since it’s Friday, it’s time for another Fitness Friday recap of the week for you!
MONDAY
Sunday I met up with April and Lindsey of the Savannah chapter of Moms Run This Town for a 7 miles run/walk. It was definitely more walking (April is a bad a** who’s recovering from a big injury) but the fellowship was awesome. Either way it was miles in the books
MONDAY
One of the best things about a 4-day weekend for Chris is that I can go to Monday morning hot detox yoga. My body seriously CRAVES this class and I don’t get to go very often. Luckily for me, hot yoga is coming to Awakening Yoga Studio on Thursday nights. WIN. A little detox before New Year’s is always a plus too
TUESDAY
Tuesday afternoon was seriously gorgeous. Partly cloudy and in the upper 50′s. I started my run with a pullover on and took it off around mile 2. Overall I felt strong and happy. My first miles logged for Victoria’s 1000 miles for 100 smiles challenge! I ended up averaging 9:24/mile.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday called for speed-work. I did 7x400m repeats with a warm-up and cool-down totaling 4 miles and averaging 9:29/mile. Afterwards I did a CrossFit WOD of:
21-15-9 Reps of
Push-Ups
Bench Dips
Sit-Ups
THURSDAY
Yesterday I had a busy day on Fort Stewart with meetings and errands but I squeezed in an easy 3 mile run and averaged 9:39/mile. My left calf was kind of tight and the gym was hot and humid. BOO. I ended with 5 sets of 10 pull-ups supersetted with 10 squats.
Friday
Today I am going to do some sort of cross-training. Last week I hit up the elliptical and completed this winter cardio shred workout:
I seriously forget sometimes how much the elliptical on an incline works my booty and hamstrings making for excellent cross-training. I felt the burn

The Winter Shred looks good! I may try it next week
Hope to see you Sunday, if not… SOON!

Great elliptical workout! We have one at home so I’m always looking for new elliptical workouts. I wish there was a Mom’s Run This Town in our area. Sounds fun!

[...] posts, one day? Who am I??! Make sure to check out Fitness Friday from this morning for an awesome elliptical [...]
I totally agree with you about 3 day weeks – How AWESOME would that be??!? Looks like you had a great week of fitness too! I’m going to give your elliptical workout a try next week. I become really unmotivated on an elliptical in the winter so I’m excited to try something new

I went out Tuesday for a run too and I couldn’t believe how nice it was outside. Guess that’s one advantage to living in Savannah
