Munchkin Meals: 15 Months
| January 3, 2013 | Posted by Madeline @ Food, Fitness, and Family under Munchkin Meals, Toddler |
Really excited to be linking up again with Munchkin Meals this month with my friend Brittany at A Healthy Slice of Life. I had the pleasure of meeting her and Hailey back in May (?) when they were in town visiting Savannah. She’s just in sweet in person and Em and Hailey are long lost BFFs
After showing my eats yesterday, I am ready to show you a sampling of what Emmalyne has been eating recently.
Preparing meals for an active toddler is both fun and daunting. I aim to give Emmie a variety of foods every day. She will be 15 months old on Sunday and loves pretty much any food put in front of her. Currently we are at three main meals and two snacks a day plus whole milk at meals. Girlfriend can eat
BREAKFAST
From the top left:
Scrambled eggs with spinach, berries, and whole wheat toast
Homemade whole-wheat waffles and cantaloupe
Plates are the latest hat fashion in toddlerhood
LUNCH
From The Top:
Brown rice sautéed with spinach, turkey, and tomatoes with pears on the side
Annie’s mac-and-cheese with peas and bananas
Turkey peas and mandarins
Grilled cheese with broccoli and mandarins
SNACKS
Multigrain Cheerios
Fruit cups (in water not syrup)
String Cheese
Annie’s Snack Mix
DINNER
Happy Bites Salmon Stix with peas and blueberries
Baked chicken, roasted veggies, and blue au gratin potatoes
**Dinner is typically whatever we are eating.
I have been really lucky that my toddler hasn’t had a picky palate. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that we did baby led weaning with her but that is obviously just my opinion. Additionally, if there is something that she doesn’t like once, I keep trying. She eats until she is full and tells me when she is done which works for us. The only downside to her healthy appetite is having to include her in the grocery budget and when we go out to eat

Awww, what yummy little eats. Perfect for little tummies. Actually, I kind of wish someone would prep healthy meals like that for me! (Yes, fish plate and all.)

Umm me too! Haha.
Emmie’s plates are all so colorful and delicious! I love that you posted a variety of meals- easier for me to get more ideas

When can we get together for another mommy/toddler play group? They’d love Forsyth Park so much more now!

YUM
Wow she eats a lot! Maybe it’s because Penny still nurses or something, but she really doesn’t eat much. I mean, not as much as that. A few mandarin orange slices, a slice of lunch meat, a carrot… then she’s done.

Emmie has always had a hearty appetite since starting solids even when she was breastfeeding. She’s a machine haha.
I love your plates, especially the fish one. Can I ask where you got it from?

I got that one from Walmart last summer but there are some shark ones in the $! section at my Target and Valentine’s ones in the dish ware section
I want those portion separating plates!!! HA HA! ESPECIALLY the fish one, too cute!

The fish one is from Walmart in the summer but I just picked up more from the $1 section of Target! There are also some Valentine’s ones in dish ware.
I love the fish plate! Where did you find it? Although my toddler gets so into what’s on the plate he moves all his food off when he gets a new plate. I used to have a great eater but he is getting to be pickier these days. Not that into veggies so I have to get creative! Hope Emmie continues to eat like she does!

[...] sure this isn’t a revelation to all the moms out there but seriously, it’s no joke. Emmalyne eats as much as a school-age kid (in my opinion) and grows out of clothes at lightning rates. On top of that, we chose to use [...]
