Boy oh boy … we had quite the packed weekend over here! It’s the first time in awhile that we have had something important every day of the weekend. Let’s get to it shall we?
Friday night, Presley, Ryne, and Maddux came into town on their way to the beach. We grilled shrimp, burgers, and corn and roasted potatoes for dinner. After putting the kiddos to bed we busted out some Cranium which Chris and I WON 2-0 Let’s just say my charade of gravity was laughter inducing. I was so much more focused on having a good time that I didn’t break out the camera until Saturday morning when we went to breakfast before they got on the road. I can’t wait until our next visit with them! My only wish is that was closer so we could hang out all the time
After seeing the S family off, Chris and I headed into Savannah to J.C. Lewis Ford in Savannah to check out the 2014 Ford Explorer. We had been toying with the idea of trading in my Jeep Liberty for a 3rd row optional SUV and narrowed it down to the Explorer, Pathfinder, and Santa Fe with the Explorer being our front runner. We had every intention of just checking out the options and seeing the vehicle in person but ended up leaving with a brand new car! We basically got a deal we couldn’t pass up with all the features we wanted (leather seats, touch screen navigation, SYNC system, etc) and are so happy with the purchase. Our gas mileage is better in the bigger car and we love it more and more each day. The customer service at J.C. Lewis was also fantastic!
Sunday morning was another bright and early day with us loading up the car to head to Hilton Head Island to meet Emily and her family at the beach for the morning! Emily and I have tried on her last few visits to link up and it didn’t work out so I was super excited that it would this time. She and I were due with our first kids one day apart and it has been fun watching them grow via the blog world. Seeing them interact in person was even better.
It was overcast but warm which ended up being perfect beach weather. The kiddos were more intent on doing their own thing most of the time which for Em meant running straight into the water and playing in the sand.
I had a great time chatting with Emily about our current pregnancies and commiserating on some of the trials of the 18-24 month period of parenthood. She and her family really are the nicest people and I am thankful to have another great blend
And this is what happens when you try to get the kids to take a picture together. Em was not thrilled that we interrupted her sand throwing.
After saying good-bye to Emily, Cullen, and Casey we headed to the Salty Dog Cafe for lunch. We scored a table on the back patio which had an awesome view. Plus, there were only 2 other tables out there which made for easy dining with a toddler
Chris got their signature pale ale to start which I looked at longingly. I am sure missing my beer these days! For starters, we got the lowcountry crab dip with homemade pita chips. It was served cold and we devoured it! For my meal, I got the lunch special which was the salmon burger with dill sauce. OMG …. The dill sauce was to die for and the salmon burger was really well seasoned. Overall we were stuffed and happy.
We headed home and spent the rest of our Sunday resting, doing laundry, and getting ready for another week. This was such a perfect weekend on so many levels! I love spending quality time with my family, especially after Chris being gone all last week. I am pretty thrilled about my new ride too
What did you do last weekend?
