Emmalyne’s Big Girl Room

One of the best things about having another girl and re-using Emmalyne’s nursery furniture is that I get to decorate not only one but TWO new rooms! Going into this move we knew that we wanted to get Em a big girl bed and that transition has gone SO smoothly. I also knew that I wanted to stick with a fairly neutral color palate of whites, greys, and pinks. Over the last couple of months I slowly accumulated all the pieces and this last week finally finished up her big girl room. Now I am ready to share it with you guys
Chris and I decided to start Em off in a full size bed so that it can grow with her in the years to come. I had a twin bed through high school and it was just small. We like to snuggle in with her at night while we read and the size gives all of us plenty of space. As I mentioned in our transition post, the bed rail has been pretty clutch in the process. I made the star mobile above her bed and will be doing a post on that soon!
I really wanted the gallery wall above her dresser to be special and a combination of different things. I printed off a few family photos to start and ordered a print off of Etsy. The photo of Em reading her books is one of my favorites and captures her personality perfectly. The pink heart is the first painting that Em ever made. For the E I used Martha Stewart craft paint in gold and just painted a cardboard letter. The phrase “you are my sunshine” holds special meaning to me since that’s what my mom has told me my entire life and now I tell E.
Emmalyne’s room wouldn’t be complete without a bunch of books. Each night she gets to choose which ones we read, although “Little Blue Truck” is her favorite to read with daddy
Every so often Em allows me to rock her in the rocking chair if she is having a particularly trying time going to sleep. The rocking chair belonged to my great uncle and has been in our home for as long as I can remember!
There you have it. I am so happy with how Em’s bedroom turned out. I feel like it is the perfect amount of simplicity and whimsy for a little girl and should be able to grow with her for several years to come. Next up will be showing you guys the nursery
