Garibaldi’s Cafe Savannah

Man oh man guys … I feel like there is SO much to catch you guys up on! First up is my Valentine’s Day celebration with Chris. One of my classmates graciously volunteered to watch our girls so we could go out to dinner on the 15th. Unfortunately Valentine’s Day fell right in the middle of my CRAZY week so I put Chris in charge of the plans. My brain wasn’t functioning on the level of being able to pick a restaurant if that tells you anything 😉
Anyway, he picked a good one! We headed down to City Market to Garibaldi’s Cafe. Chris even scored some points by requesting a table by the window on the second floor for the best experience. Since we went at 5:30PM (in an attempt to save my friend from the woes of bedtime) it wasn’t very crowded. I didn’t get to snap a picture of my own but here is a good one:
We were right by the middle window Garibaldi’s hosts a ton of private events and weddings and I am not surprised after seeing the beauty of the ballroom. Since I am not one to EVER turn down an appetizer, we started off with meatball sliders and champagne. A great combination, no?
The meatball sliders were seriously good and the arugula added a nice spiciness to then. The “chips” on the side left something to be desired though.
For my main course, I went with the seared salmon with whipped potatoes, lump crab, mushrooms, spinach, and asiago cream sauce. The sauce was SO good and I absolutely loved my meal.
Chris ordered the New York strip with gorgonzola, sautéed mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. I snuck some of the steak and the gorgonzola cheese was to die for. I can’t wait to recreate this meal at home!
The only bummer for the night was that Chris’ steaks wasn’t cooked right the first time. He asked for medium-rare and it came out WELL done. The manager got it corrected quickly so we were happy campers.
Overall I really enjoyed Garabaldi’s and would recommend it if you’re ever in Savannah. We ended our night with a trip to Anthropologie and a stop for cupcakes. A perfect date night if you ask me!
Did you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
