Looking Back at 2013

This has been a really great year for us!  So many amazing things happened during the course of 2013 and I want to take a second to reminisce on our family memories.

January started with me setting some goals for 2013.  I accomplished many of them but a little Jellybean halted some of them in their tracks.  I’ll go over my 2013 goals in a bit.  February was a great month with a running PR in the Augusta Half Marathon.  I also got to hang out with Presley!  In March we celebrated St. Patrick’s DaySavannah style and I shared one of my most popular recipes for oven baked chicken tacos.  We also took a family vacation to Hilton Head Island courtesy of Operation R&R.  I even found out I was pregnant at Hilton Head but hadn’t told you all yet 😉

2013 in Review Part 1

April was a tough month for me as I was in the throws of dealing with extreme all-day sickness.  I did manage to share about our Easter and also my 30-minute plan for a clean house. In May we finally announced that we were expecting an early Christmas present and I started sharing my pregnancy with you guys.  June was incredibly busy for us with trips to Phoenix and Las Vegas to visit our families, celebrating four years of wedded bliss with an awesome dinner at the Olde Pink House in Savannah, and Emmalyne’s first Sharpie masterpiece.

2013 in Review Part 2 Pregnancy Announcement

In July we had a lot of fun!  We found out that we were expecting a baby girl, did a makeover of Emmalyne’s playroom, and I shared how I was battling back pain with prenatal yoga.  August was another busy month for us.  We headed to Las Vegas to see Chris’ grandmother from Korea, jaunted down to Phoenix to see my family and explore Butterfly Wonderland, and I shared what’s in our carry-on for traveling with a toddler.  I announced that I would be starting a new journey in 2014 with my acceptance to Physician Assistant school!  We also spent some time at the beach of St. Simon’s Island.

2013 in Review Part 3

In September I compared my two pregnancies and we decided that baby jail was the best thing ever.  October was crazy in that we celebrated Emmalyne’s second birthday with her “Oh-Twodles” party.  We also moved into our new house, successfully transitioned to the big girl bed, and took family photos.  I also talked about running in my third trimester and went to the chiropractor for the first time.

2013 in Review Part 4

By far though November and December were my favorite months this year.  Chris changed command at the beginning of the month and I revealed Em’s big girl room.  On Thanksgiving our family went from three to four and I shared Bryn’s birth story with you guys (Part 1 & Part 2).  I shared Bryn’s nursery with you guys and started my body after baby 2 journey.  Finally we celebrated our first Christmas as a family of four.

Thanksgiving Menu

I am SO excited for Thanksgiving this year.  It’s the first time in 5 years that I will get to celebrate with my mom and my step-dad flies in tomorrow.  We have so much to be thankful for this year and I am determined to celebrate right 😉  What’s funny is that Thanksgiving was the ONE day I was hoping not to be in the hospital but I feel like Baby B will make her appearance then just for that reason haha.  We decided that in the event I am having a baby or still admitted we will just move turkey day so I can still enjoy it.  This is what we are planning:

Thanksgiving Turkey

Herb and shallot roasted turkey

Mashed potatoes and gravy

Sweet potato casserole

Homemade green bean casserole

Cheddar sage biscuits

Apple pie

Pumpkin pie

Hopefully the little turkey in my belly comes out soon so I can enjoy a beer with the meal 😉

Side note: Chris and I were talking yesterday about how crazy it is that “Black Friday” is now starting Thanksgiving night.  What happened to being with your family?!  And for those who don’t care about the holiday, what about the workers who want to be with their families?  Shake my head.

What’s on your Thanksgiving menu?  What do you think about shopping on Thursday??
