Holy cow guys.  I found a workout facility that is PERFECT for me.  Last night Victoria and I had the opportunity to check out the D1 Sports Training center here in Savannah, Georgia.  And I am in love.

We met our new friend Zach who told us more about D1 Sports Training and their philosophy.  D1 aims to give their clients the same experience and benefits that top athletes get at Division I schools.  Their coaches are incredibly educated and are experts in their field.  D1 has programs for kids as young as 7 and goes all the way thru adulthood.  The passion that they have for fitness oozed through as Zach showed us around.

 

And they don’t disappoint.  The facilities had pretty much everything you could ask for in a training center.  The weight machines are custom designed for D1 and you will not find them anywhere else.  There were medicine balls galore, free weights, pylometric boxes, etc.

Before we knew it it was time for us to start our workout.  Although D1 has a TON of classes aimed at kids, there are adult programs as well.  We did a boot camp class.  Their boot camp classes are metabolic based workouts utilizing many different training modalities.  It is suitable for men and women of all fitness levels.  I can honestly say that our class had a diverse variety of individuals and everyone successfully created the workout.  A lot of it is how hard YOU push YOURSELF.  The harder you push = the greater the results.

 

Coach Brittany started us off with a dynamic warm-up of walking lunges, some different balance/stretch things, and a couple laps.  After that we moved on to variety of running drills on the field.  We did high knees, butt kicks, cariocas, side shuffles, straight legs, back pedals, bear crawls, and finger drags.  On top of that we added 3 100m sprints.  WHEW.  And that was only half the workout.

 

After getting our butts handed to us on the field we got pushed even further.  We had resistance bands strapped to our ankles and utilized weighted medicine balls as our equipment.  The workouts are very team oriented so we circled up to do the remainder of the workout.  There was a circuit of weighted exercises with side shuffles thrown in between each.  We did medicine ball slams, squats, medicine ball push-ups, overhead press, good mornings, triceps extensions, and lumberjacks.  Twice.  OUCH.

I was seriously done by the end of the workout.  According to my Polar FT40 heart rate monitor I burned 589 calories in 50 minutes.  AWESOME workout.  AND we vlogged about it 😉

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday friends!  I hope your weekends were full of awesome and that you’re ready to tackle this week!  We had a great weekend over here full of family, friends, and yummy food :)

Saturday we were having Chris’ Soldiers over for a BBQ.  Emmie didn’t sleep too well the night before and was up around 5AM.  Neither she or I really ever went fully back to sleep.  At around 6:30 I realized our fan wasn’t on and it was getting really HOT.  I got up to turn it on … only it didn’t.  In my sleep induced stupor it took me a minute to realize we had no power.  YIKES!  We called the electric company and all they could say was that they were working on it … no estimate on time.  After some Twitter-search and Googling we knew that we would be ok if the power would be restored soon as long as we didn’t open to fridge or freezer.  The CDC posts more tips HERE.

 

We decided to load up and head to our favorite breakfast spot to eat.  By the time we got home it was almost 8AM and the power still was out.  A went back to bed and right at 8:30 the air kicked back on.  Chris and I did a happy dance and got to work getting ready for company.  Everyone got to our house at 1PM.  We had SO much good food:

 

We had a great time getting to know them better, eating good food, and playing ladders.  Ladders is by far one of my new favorite games.  Chris’ 1SG said that he made his set in about 15 minutes flat so that is on our “to do” list before football season.  Chris was quite competitive and was pretty steamed when his team lost haha.  Oh well babe, you’ll get them next time 😉

Yesterday we spent the morning getting our lives back together.  I had some work to get done and we had laundry to do.  My step-sister Kelsey is coming to visit this coming weekend so we needed to get the house back in order to get ready for her.  We took a welcomed break in the afternoon to head downtown and hit up Moe’s Southwestern Grill for the first time.  For non-southerners, Moe’s is kind of like Chipotle or Freebirds.  Chris and I liked it but for us Chipotle > Freebirds > Moes.  It will do for our local, and only, choice but our hearts lie with Chipotle 😉

After pigging out on Mexican food we hit up the mall.  Bath and Body Works was having a big sale and I got my body wash for $3 each.  SCORE.  Gap was also offering an additional 25% off all sale items so of course Emmalyne lucked out.

Seriously that girl gets more new clothes than I do 😉  Overall it was a really nice weekend full of good food, great company, and fantastic shopping.  I have nothing to complain about :)

I am super excited today though.  Tonight, Victoria and I are going for a workout at D1 Sports Training in Savannah.  Tim Tebow co-owns this franchise … no big deal.  Apparently on top of getting a super sweaty workout on we will get to learn how to Tebow also 😉  Stay tuned for my recap!
