Coffee Talk // 1

…. is this thing on?  I sure hope it is!  In case you all forgot … I’m Madeline.  And I have severely neglected this space for far too long.  The beautiful thing about stepping back from blogging is realizing how much you LOVED blogging to begin with.  So I am back in this space and ready to share my life again with all of you.  Those of you who have stuck with me … thank you!  I can’t wait to hear how life has been treating you :)  Now join me for some coffee talk!

If we were having coffee I would tell you that Emmalyne turned FIVE.  How could this be?  I swear it was yesterday I was announcing her arrival right here in this space.  She is shaping up to be the most extraordinary little girl.  She is loving, kind, creative, fun, thoughtful, and an absolute ray of sunshine.  She is a little introverted which can be challenging for my extroverted self, however, she is the first to befriend someone on the playground.  She cares deeply about others’ feelings and loves animals.  Her birthday party was Shopkins themed and she was so happy.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I have been practicing medicine for 6 months as of this week.  More on my thoughts on this on Wednesday but again, how did this happen?  I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I am a practicing Physician Assistant living my dream.  I am slowly gaining more confidence and have earned the trust of my collaborating physicians … I even get to help teach our medical student right now!

If we were having coffee I would tell you that we have been enjoying Missouri so far.  We really live in the middle of nowhere but it has its charm.  We have gotten our and explored the area and have some new adventures on the horizon.  The closest Target is an hour away but even that is ok.  Our weekends are spent full of family time and I don’t think I would have it any other way.

If we were having coffee I would tell you about our Halloween.  We had a family party the weekend before and went as the gang from Little Red Riding Hood.  Emmie insisted on being the Big Bad Wolf but promptly changed to Little Red for the big show.  Bryn was the sweetest, and the smallest of our bunch.  While trick-or-treating she would yell, “Come on guys!  Let’s go to the next house” and hurry along as fast as her little legs could go.  She does not have a shy bone in her body.

If we were having coffee I would tell you I am trying to work on myself.  I am being honest here – I have gained over 10lbs since starting work.  I am sure it’s a contribution of the stress, lack of time, and exhaustion but I have been making VERY poor choices and not fitting in workouts.  We have a big trip in the spring that will involve bikinis and I am determined to use that as my motivation to get back on track.  Regardless of the bikini … I NEED to feel better.  When I eat like crap I have a perpetual cycle of feeling like garbage.  It needs to end.  I need my energy back!

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I am OBSESSED with this stage of life we are in.  Our family photos came back and I can’t believe how blessed and lucky I am to have these three as my people.

Your turn!  I need to catch up with all of you – so tell me, what would you tell me if we were having coffee?

Independence Day 2016

Happy 4th of July!

We are crossing our fingers that the wet weather of Missouri lets up in time to enjoy the festivities on post tonight!  The 4th of July is just another reminder about how lucky we are to be Americans.  While our country is no where near perfect, it is incredible to live somewhere where you are free to be yourself, can pursue your dreams, and design a life you love.  Thank you to the men and women in uniform who continue to keep us free and safe.  And in ending, here is my 4th of July outfit for you …

4th of July Fashion

Keeping it simple and causal because those two things are essential when wrangling tiny humans.  Happy 4th!

Weekend Snapshots 3

Happy Monday friends! I hope your weekend was fabulous. Ours was pretty sweet because Chris and I got to celebrate SEVEN years of marriage!  Without getting too sappy I am SO thankful to have him as my partner in this crazy life.  We have crammed SO MUCH LIFE into the last 7 years and I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else.

Saturday we hired a babysitter so we could spend some quality time together up at the Lake of the Ozarks.  We headed up mid-morning to do some shopping and grab some lunch.  Our first stop was the outlet mall where I scored some cute things for summer that I can’t wait to share with you all.  We also went to Target which made my heart SO happy since it’s the closest one to us and is still almost an hour away.  Before heading back to the girls we stopped for lunch at Baxter’s an were not disappointed.  I mean HELLO … check out the view.

Weekend - Lunch

We both started off with a nice cold beer which was perfect for the warm day and the breeze off the lake.  For starters we had the spinach and artichoke dip and it was pretty good.  My main course was a chicken BLT that was just ok.

Weekend - Beer

Weekend -Appetizer

It was just nice spending time together enjoying a summer day.  When we got home we packed the girls up into the car and headed straight for post to hit the park.  I wish you guys could see Bryn at parks because she is bound and determined to give me a heart attack.  I love her sense of adventure but I foresee many ER visits for us ha.

Weekend - Playground

Sunday was our actual anniversary and Chris had my presents on the kitchen table.  He was pretty thoughtful this year and got me an Arizona scarf for football season, new sandals, prosecco, and a gift card.  My favorite thing though is the “card” he had pulled up on my iPad.

The rest of the day was spent getting chores done around the house.  Chris tackled the yard and I tackled a workout before we did laundry and food prep.  We did however go soak up some sun at the local pool with the girls.  They are serious water babies which tells me they are Arizona girls at heart.

Weekend - Pool

Here’s to another great week!  I am starting to get my groove as a provider and am feeling a teensy bit less overwhelmed at my job.  I am learning more stuff everyday and hopefully am making a positive impact on my patients too.  Hope your day is great!

Latest Netflix Obsession

This post is brought to you as part of my partnership with Netflix as a member of their #StreamTeam.

Y’all … my kids have a new obsession and it’s NOT My Little Pony!  I am kind of pumped to be taking a break from Twilight Sparkle for a little bit.  Fortunately our Netflix subscription allows them to branch out occasionally and experience new programming.  While we have cut back on screen time significantly since I finished school and we moved to Missouri the girls have found themselves a tad obsessed with their new favorite show.  Bryn will bring us the remote and say, ‘Dragons?’ in the sweetest little voice.

Dragons Race to the Edge

That’s right … we are officially in a “How to Train Your Dragon” phase.  Fortunately Netflix has both the first and the second movie available and their own original series, Dragons: Race to the Edge.  Even though the series has been out for awhile it’s fairly new to us.  I have to say I am pretty impressed!

Chris and I have found ourselves watching right along with the kids which is kind of unusual since normally we can’t stand what they choose.  The plot line is fun and the story itself entertaining.  It’s been nice having a show the entire family can sit down and enjoy together!

If you’re looking for a show to enjoy with your kids I highly recommend this one.  The movies are pretty sweet too so make sure to watch them along with it!

Weekend Snapshots 3

Happy Memorial Day!  While we enjoy having an extra day off work please remember to take a second and say a quick prayer to the brave men and women who selflessly gave their lives for our country.  Their sacrifice is what helps keep us free and we forever owe them gratitude.  Say a prayer for the loved ones left behind because everyday for them is Memorial Day.

Another Monday but this time I am not back at work thanks to a long holiday weekend!  I can’t begin to describe how much I needed an extra day.  I am still adjusting to being back in the clinic full-time and my mind was blown a bit last week being on my own as a provider (eek!).  I am soaking up some extra time with the family and preparing to have some friends over this afternoon!

Yesterday was a pretty great day if I do say so myself and I am dedicating my weekend recap to it.  We got up early and decided to hit up the garage gym for a workout.  One of the reasons I love having a home gym is that Chris and I can workout while the girls play outside.  It’s a win-win!  The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time.

After getting a few things done around the house and Bryn nap-evading we hit up the local water park for the first time.  Oh my goodness – the girls had a blast!  We are probably going to get a family pass because it is very close to our house (benefits of small town living) and I can see us spending a lot of time here this summer.

Water Park

Today I am going to get a quick workout in before Chris hits the gold course.  Tonight one of his work friends is coming over with his family so we are sure to have a good time!  I hope you have something fun planned today and get to enjoy it with the people you care most about.  See you back tomorrow!
